Trainer Background
Andy has been teaching CAT tools at university level for more than 15 years. He has a wealth of experience of training freelance and in-house translators in SDL Trados Studio, has presented at a number of SDL events, and published a text book on the use of the software. Alongside his teaching and training work, he has been working as a freelance translator for more than 20 years.

Course Content
The primary objective of the day is to get participants up and running quickly with SDL Trados Studio at a basic level that will allow them to begin working with the tool in a professional context.
We will go through the essential processes for completing a translation in SDL Trados Studio, including setting up the work environment, creating a translation memory, quoting and invoicing for work, performing a translation, saving the translation in its original file format, and (time permitting) working with terminology tools.
Course Objectives
- To learn how to get up and running with SDL Trados Studio in a short space of time
- To understand the main basic processes involved in working with a translation memory tool and be able to perform them for potential work assignments
- To translate a set of short documents using some of the key features of SDL Trados Studio
