Professor Claire Ozanne

Vice-Provost (Academic Partnerships and International)

Professor Claire Ozanne took up her post as Vice-Provost (previously Deputy Provost) in May 2010. Her responsibilities have included portfolio and curriculum development, learning and teaching, research, the Graduate school and collaborative partnerships. She is currently leading the international aspects of the University's strategy and the development and oversight of partnerships.

Claire gained her DPhil from Oxford in 1991 and is an insect ecologist whose work focuses on habitats influenced by human activities, particularly temperate and tropical forest canopies. She is a founding member of the steering group of the Global Canopy Programme and has led international projects in Australia, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Guyana. Between 2010 and 2014 Professor Ozanne managed a group of academic departments at the University across their portfolio of activities and prior to her appointment as Vice (Deputy) Provost, was Assistant Dean (Learning & Teaching) and Head of Biological & Health Sciences. She has been a QAA reviewer and was seconded to the post of Principal, Heythrop College, University of London (0.6FTE) from February 2017 to April 2019.

Professor Ozanne is a Principal Fellow of the HEA and Professor of Ecology.
