Coronavirus: Graduation and events
Will graduation ceremonies go ahead this summer?
The University is following UK Government advice about restrictions on events and mass gatherings and after careful consideration, we feel it is too much of a risk to continue planning for the graduation ceremonies on 23 and 24 July. We have therefore taken the difficult decision to postpone the summer ceremonies.
We know this must come as a big disappointment for many of you as you have worked hard to reach the end of your programme, but please be assured that we promise to celebrate with you when we are able. We are currently in discussions to identify suitable dates either later in 2020 or in 2021. As soon as these dates are confirmed, we will let you know.
Please be advised that this delay will not impact the delivery of your degree certificate. All students who are graduating this year will receive their transcript and certificate in the post between August and September. For international students, if your visa is due to expire before the date of your new ceremony, you and your guests will still be able to apply for a visa to attend your graduation by applying through your own government or embassy once you receive your invitation to the ceremony.
